Top reasons why users do not open your mobile app

Top reasons why users do not open your mobile app

Building and publishing your mobile apps is only the first step to making your business a success in the mobile app market. However, it is not sufficient to simply just launch the mobile app and expect users to download the app themselves.

If your app is experiencing stagnation, or you are making plans before launching your mobile app, this post is for you.

Even if they do, it does not guarantee success. Moreover, one of the metrics to gauge that is the app open rate which simply measures how many times your app users are opening the mobile app.

There are many times when users download a particular mobile application but still they do not open the app as many times as you would like for your business to prosper.

Also, there can be many reasons for that. Let us go over the top reasons why users are not opening the app and how we can fix them.

#1. App-nesia

The biggest reason for people not opening your app is that they have downloaded the app but then forgotten about it. Many apps make a great first impression and succeed at converting in to app installation but fail to get the second visit.

The phenomenon of app being opened once and then forgotten later is called app-nesia.

To state the solution to this problem simply, do not let your users forget your brand and your app. And, there are multiple ways to achieve this. Moreover, the most effective way is to direct the search traffic to your mobile app.

This is a very underrated strategy yet highly effective. And can be achieved by simply re-directing your mobile users to the app from your website.

If you can direct your web users to your mobile application, they will automatically increase the app engagement rates for the mobile application.

This also results in enhanced branding, that promotes brand recognition. That eventually makes your brand unforgettable.

Another way is to prompt website users, especially the ones that are accessing the website from mobiles to access the same service via the app.

This is a very convincing pitch and can see many successful conversions since the experience of a native mobile app is always better than that of the vanilla website. Which leads to our second point of discussion.

#2. Engaging experience

Creating engaging mobile experience

Another important reason for declining rates of app engagement and open rates is that the mobile application does not offer an engaging and enriching experience.

To think of it, there are some apps that we open very frequently and the biggest reason for that is the delightful in-app experience.

Focus on offering the best possible experience to your users will motivate them to open and use your app against any other app from your competitors.

The easiest way to achieve a great and memorable in-app experience is by building a native mobile app and not a hybrid one.

Native mobile apps have proven to be a better and preferred choice for brands across industries.

#3 – Ineffective push notifications

Push Notifications

Push notifications have proven to be a lethal tool in your mobile app marketing arsenal and when used effectively and work wonders for your app engagement rates and eventually profit the business.

Optimize your push notification strategy to not only promote your products or services but also to engage with your audience effectively.

Select the right time to schedule the push notification based on your target audience, how they respond to the stimuli and other factors like seasonality and trends.

That being said, make sure that you use this tool wisely. Your push notifications should not become spammy or annoying as it could negatively impact and lead to churn.

Here are a few top strategies that you should apply to effectively optimize your push notifications.

1. Keep it short and simple

Push notifications only allow limited characters to convey your message. iOS devices allow 120 characters, while Android lets you type up to 40 – 60 characters.

So ensure that your push notification copy is concise and precise simultaneously.

2. Maintain the tone for your brand

Ensure to maintain the tone in which you always communicate with your audience. Maintaining the persona is crucial as it builds authenticity over time.

3. Get the excited

Use words like new, guaranteed, free, promo, sale, half, and other terms that induce excitement. Your copy should aim at getting your users positively motivated.

Try to begin with action words. This has been proved over the years to bring better conversions.

4. Handhold users with a predefined path

You should link the push notification to a navigation path that leads to maximum conversions in the least number of steps involved.

5. Timing and frequency

A very important yet neglected aspect of an effective push notification. You must only schedule the push notification for the time when the user is most active on their mobile devices.

Otherwise you risk your push notification to be ignored.

#4 – Lack of enough promotions

Promote your app

It has often been observed that, any developers and developer-led companies fail to promote their mobile application after launching it.

This not only does no good but also negatively impacts the ranks of the app in search results. Which in turns hampers the business potential.

You can always learn about the effective mobile app marketing strategies or engage with an expert that can help you with this.

While it is true that the quality of the mobile application should be nothing short of impressive, all efforts can go in vain if the app is not promoted effectively. Marketing and branding are two of the biggest pillars in making a mobile app a success.

While it is important to market your app organically, however you should also consider running paid advertisements and promotional campaigns on social media.

This one activity can gather a lot of eye-balls and give a much-needed boost to your mobile application.

Speaking of which, re-engagement ads on social media platforms like Facebook and LinkedIn etc perform really well if optimized appropriately.

Facebook being the largest and most popular social media channel should be one of your preferences, however the choice of platform totally should depend on your target audience. An app that is targeted towards working professionals should be more advertised on LinkedIn than Facebook.

Some features of a good app re-engagement ad are as follows.

1. Attractive Visuals

Get professionally designed banners that are attractive and prompt action. It should relate well with the target audience and promote your message positively.

2. Compelling CTA

Optimize the call-to-action button (CTA) to compel users to click on the ad. Your call-to-action should be concise and compelling simultaneously that demands actions.

3. Backed by influencer

When a campaign is backed by a famous personality it automatically gets the validation and eye balls that it requires to get that boost. And with influencer marketing at its boom, it is very easy for you to engage with an influencer at any level.

There can be many different reasons for your mobile app not being engaged as much as you’d like. It is only a matter of investigating into what they are and how to fix them.

Build a dry cleaning and laundry app and increase your business efficiency

Build a dry cleaning and laundry app and increase your business efficiency

The expansion of the mobile industry and the popularity of apps is not a recent phenomenon. However, with the increasing number of smartphones, the scenario has started changing rapidly.

People are not just using apps and phones for the sake of communication and entertainment. Smart phones have become the go-to source of people for their daily needs. Also, apps are turning to the new marketplace where the needs are met.

Ever since it has become easier for businesses to create apps with WooCommerce mobile app builders, they are not missing out. Brands, big and small, are building apps to join the mCommerce league and benefitting from it.

Building an efficient app can have a wide array of benefits for your laundry business as well. It can streamline your operations, optimize your workforce, give quantifiable growth data and immediate feedback, and also ensure higher returns.

However, in order to ensure all this, you must know your app market inside-out and have an app that outshines competitors. So, stay tuned and learn how you can accomplish this as we uncover more.

The need for On-demand apps is on peak

Growth of on-demand apps

On-demand apps are the service-oriented apps that have redefined eCommerce. These apps act as a digital bridge between various customers and businesses, and bring multiple range of services at their fingertips.

Most of the apps that we use today, for fulfilling our day-to-day requirements and carrying out numerous activities, are on-demand apps. The industry variedly ranges and extends to cab rental services; plumbing, cleaning or other home renovation services; salon appointment booking apps, and a lot more.

Dry cleaning and laundry apps are also a part of the ‘on-demand’ realm and have been here for quite some time now. In fact, in this day and age of GLOCALIZATION, local services are turning global in terms of their functioning and appeal.

As the app-based laundry and dry-cleaning market is still in its early stages of development, the competition is comparatively less. Hence, it is the best time to build an app for your dry cleaning and laundry business.

Proceed with a holistic strategy that assures success

In order to make the most of your resources, you must have a wholesome approach. Implement the strategies listed below, as you proceed to build your app:

#1- Determine your targets and carve out a plan

Determine business goals

A laundry and dry-cleaning business, even with multiple outlets, is all about catering to the locality. Therefore, it is important that you determine your target audience, green market and business goals before you proceed.

Once you have established these, you can figure out your business model. This will help you in creating a blue-print for your mobile app and eliminate the need of last-minute changes.

As you go head and build your app, you must also have a thorough plan for pre-launch phase, launch phase and post launch phase activities like promotion, marketing, publicity, etc.

#2- Make the user-onboarding process simple

Make user-onboarding simple

Apps that do not grip the audience from the very first of interactions, often lose potential customers. An app that has a complex sign up process or takes very long to load, is often abandoned. This, in turn, also affects the image of your brand.

Therefore, build a native app with easy to use features and a simplified onboarding process. Enable people to register through multiple options like Email, Google Account, Facebook, etc.

As soon as they are in, let your app screens hold and hook their attention. Remember, your app should not take more than three seconds to load and users should be directed to the in-app functional screens in a few simple steps.

#3- Assist users with smart features

Integrate smart app features

Build a native app with smart features and engaging screens and cover both Android and iOS users. Keep the overall theme of the app coherent with your brand image and in sync with your website.

However, you must ensure that your app, and its screens and design elements are adaptable to various platforms, devices, etc. Design an eye-catching app icon, logo, screens, buttons, etc. Make the end-to-end experience, from sign up to checkout, simple and rewarding.

Well define categories and allow people to choose from a variety of options, arranged in easily navigable hierarchy of sections. If you have a limited range, you can also partner with other people in the business and redirect orders to other vendors against some commission.

#4- Leverage the process of order management

Easy order management

Order pick up, processing and delivery are the three basic operations that form the core of your business. The entire process should be simplified and optimized for both, your staff and your customers.

Allow customers to place orders and add special care instructions, if they want to. You can also allow them to choose their service priorities and delivery timings. Enable them to track their order and delivery status.

It will also become easier for your staff to maintain a database and manage orders in a more efficient and error-free manner. Generating digital invoices, receipts and bills will not only save the stationery but also automate your inventory, billing and tax management process.

#5- Emphasize on customer convenience

Focus on customer convenience

Dry cleaner and laundry services is one of those business ideas where customer satisfaction plays a significant role. For you, it is more important and beneficial to retain a customer, than to acquire a new one.

Therefore, you must not hesitate to walk the extra mile and offer an unmatched experience to your customers. Build a strong customer support system and patiently address all their queries, concerns, feedback, etc.

Offer loyalty rewards and keep your dedicated customers coming back to you. You can also track the order history of customers, and customize the deals, offers and marketing endeavors accordingly.

#6- Find your unique business approach

Find the USP of your business

Customers have a tendency of getting lured by businesses that have the X factor. In order to stand out among your competitors, you must also find a USP (Unique Selling Proposition) for your business.

It can be an actual service, a marketing idea, an app feature or even the way in which you conduct your business. For instance, you can create a section for those seeking luxury solutions and offer tier based services. The idea is to communicate it well to your consumers and thrive on it.

You can carry out some research and find the loopholes in your competitor apps. Thereafter, you can make efforts to bridge the gap and suffice this need. This will create a unique impression and attract higher engagements.

#7- Be consistent and build social proof

Build social proof for app

It is important that you remain consistent in your efforts and keep optimizing your procedures. Do not sit back and relax once the app is out in the market. In fact, the real game begins after that.

For instance, you can go for A/B testing to check the response of people pertaining to your app design and features. Start looking for the loopholes and keep fixing the issues parallelly. Show your customers how you value their opinion and win them over.

You can communicate with them through various medium like Social Media, Push Notifications, etc. Optimize your marketing efforts and seek reviews, ratings and feedback from customers. Build enough social proof for your app and get higher engagements.

#8- Track your progress and optimize

Track your business growth

Start tracking your app’s progress, the number of installs, uninstalls, impressions, revenue, etc., from the very minute of the launch. Take every type of feedback and result in good spirit and reinvent your efforts accordingly.

Keep working hard for better engagements as it is not a one-day deal. Aim for higher traffic and better ranks on the app stores and go for app store optimization.

Keep evaluating your performance, success of marketing campaigns and milestones. Set new business goals regularly and make new efforts to achieve those goals. Offer an unmatched experience to clients and revolutionize the scenario of the app market for dry cleaning and laundry.

WooCommerce vs Shopify: Discover the pros & cons of the choicest eCommerce platforms

WooCommerce vs Shopify: Discover the pros & cons of the choicest eCommerce platforms

The proliferation of eCommerce is no longer a matter of surprise to the world. With the consumerization of technology, the entire world has turned into a marketplace that is easily accessible for both, businesses and consumers.

As a result of this change, a number of eCommerce platforms have emerged and are now powering millions of eCommerce websites around the globe.

As the internet has become more accessible and our phones have turned smarter, it has opened many new avenues for the businesses. In fact, many online stores are making huge profits by catering to both website and app shoppers.

It is also noteworthy that with many tools such as Shopify mobile app builders for Android and iOS, businesses have become more accomplished.

However, before you proceed to enter the app market, you should establish your eCommerce store. With multiple options available online, it might be tough for you to choose the best platform to start.

To address this dilemma, we will guide you through a comparative analysis of WooCommerce and Shopify, the two leading eCommerce platforms. Stay tuned and find out the most suitable one for your business.

WooCommerce and Shopify: An introduction to the basics

Introduction to Shopify and WooCommerce

There are a range of eCommerce platforms that cater to businesses aspiring to flourish in the online market. The industry includes many names like Magento, Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Wix, Big Cartel, etc.

However, today we will discuss about arguably the two most popular platforms, i.e., WooCommerce and Shopify. We have chosen these two names for our first comparative study for a variety of reasons.

These two platforms, despite having some very distinct qualities, are quite esteemed. Let us go through a basic introduction of the two, before analyzing various aspects in detail.

a. WooCommerce: The power of sublime simplicity

WooCommerce is actually an eCommerce extension of the popular platform WordPress. As an open source plugin, it empowers eCommerce websites that are built on WordPress. This is one of the simplest and most affordable solutions that appeals to all scales of businesses alike.

WooCommerce is quite new but it has managed to attract the maximum eye-balls in a very short time. According to Datanyze, it has the strongest lead amidst other eCommerce platforms and holds the first rank with 28.05% market share and 353,562 registered domains.

b. Shopify: The luxury suite of services

Shopify emerged in Canada, and over the years, it has been constantly evolving and expanding. This holistic retail point of sale and eCommerce solution is now spread across more than 170 countries. It holds the third rank and its market share stands at 10.90% with 137,444 registered domains.

The suite of services available under one roof, provide a luxury experience. Hence, Shopify, along with its advanced solution Shopify Plus has become the ultimate platform for niche businesses and brands.

The ten parameters that determine your convenience

There are a few factors and parameters, that determine the quality and goodness of an eCommerce platform. In order to make the most of your resources and choose the best for your business, you must be aware of all the attributes.

Let us start the comparative study of the core factors of WooCommerce and Shopify:

#1- Budget and Payment

Comparing Budget and Payment plans

The best thing about WooCommerce is that its base product is absolutely free. However, as you proceed to integrate advanced features and plugins, the budget keeps increasing exponentially.

You will have to purchase hosting and domain name, SSL certification and other extensions separately.

Shopify, unlike WooCommerce, has more rigid and fixed pricing plans. Once you have chosen your plan and subscription, your billing cycle is bound to reflect nearly the same amount every time.

This reduces the burden of additional expenses and as you proceed to purchase more advance plans, the benefits also increase.

WooCommerce is a hands down winner if you are looking for basic features that come for free. Besides, unlike Shopify that charges 2% per transaction for using third party gateways for customer payments, WooCommerce only has integration charges.

However, Shopify is the best if you are looking for consistent pricing plans and ease of regular payment cycles.

#2- Build-time and ease

Time taken to build

WooCommerce consumes more time and requires more effort as compared to Shopify. If you want technical control and are ready to deal with the nuances, it is best.

You will have to start by building a WordPress website and then take care of most of the technical aspects yourself. With a wide range of theme support, you can highly customize your website.

If your technical knowledge is not very high, or you wish to invest little effort and time, then Shopify is the best for you. It is the perfect ensemble of ready to use tools that make the journey easier.

However, as most of the things are pre-fed or managed by the service providers, you might feel the lack of control over your online store.

Shopify is a clear winner when it comes to ease of building and time. However, if you want to invest yourself in the process and take control of it, then go for WooCommerce.

#3- Design and Performance

Design and performance

The quality of design often has a direct impact on the performance of the website. Fortunately, WooCommerce comes with endless theme and design support and the options are extensive.

You can put up an elegant store based on your design preferences. It also has a satisfactory load time and speed, for both desktops and mobile devices.

Shopify, as compared to WooCommerce, has limited options when it comes to themes and layouts to choose from. However, it has the perfect platter of the choicest themes that have been filtered overtime.

Besides, the performance of Shopify can turn out to be better, as far as the load time and speed is concerned.

While WooCommerce excels in the theme and design section, Shopify is a winner in the performance sector. However, the differences are very fine and the competition is really close.

#4- Customizability

Customizability of Shopify and WooCommerce

As discussed above, WooCommerce is a highly customizable platform that is easy to install, configure and maintain. If you are aware of WordPress, it can become easier and smoother for you.

As you take care of several aspects like hosting, security, maintenance, etc., you get absolute control over the website. Also, it comes with hundreds of additional extensions to choose from.

Shopify brings ease and comfort to the table as most of the work is handled automatically. There is less manual interference and thus lesser scope of changes.

As a result, Shopify lags behind WooCommerce when it comes to customizability. You can still go for it if you do not wish to optimize your website more often.

Clearly and undoubtedly, WooCommerce gets a strong edge over Shopify when it comes to customizability.

 #5- Scalability

Scalability and prospects of growth

The scope of parallel growth of your website, as your business grows, determines its scalability. As WooCommerce is highly customizable, you can easily adapt it to the growth and expansion of your business and consumer traffic.

Shopify also allows advanced plans that suit your need of scalability. As most of the things are managed by Shopify itself, you also get to shed the work load.

Both the platforms are scalable and can be optimized to suit the growth of your business. For automated processes, you can select Shopify, and for customizable alternatives you can go for WooCommerce.

#6- Extended Features

Additional features

Extended features such as Payment Gateway integrations, lead generation, analytical support, addons, etc., are highly and easily accessible on WooCommerce. These features leverage the performance of the site and strengthen it further.

Shopify, though less flexible, comes with a range of add on features that provide the extra mileage and support. Both free & paid add-ons, and extended tools are available on the Shopify store that can be included as a part of your subscription.

Both the platforms provide ample extended support that can enhance the functionalities of your site. However, it is easier to integrate customized features and plugins on WooCommerce.

#7- SEO Support

SEO Support

As you get manual control over the entire site, you upload most of the data yourself. This includes product meta data and site information where you can use keywords. As a result, you get added benefits of SEO. You can also use the tools meant for this purpose.

As Shopify is automated, you cannot feed in much customized data that can help you with the SEO optimization. However, the SEO amplification plugins, smart and SEO friendly system, and viable tools can help you master this part without any hassle.

SEO plays a significant role in driving traffic for your website. Considering this factor, we can say that the optimized SEO support from WooCommerce can help you rank higher on the search engines. However, Shopify has SEO tool extensions that can do the same for you.

#8- Security

Security settings

The security aspects of the website need to be taken care of manually for WooCommerce. If you host the domain yourself, you are primarily responsible for SSL certification, PCI-DSS Compliance, etc. If you don’t have a service provider, it can get tricky.

Shopify is one the safest solutions as it already comes with SSL certification and PCI-DSS Compliance. Most of the security aspects are managed by Shopify itself which ensures a sense of safety.

Clearly, Shopify stands as the winner when it comes to the security aspect of your eCommerce websites. It is noteworthy that Google gives a special preference to websites that are safe and secure.

#9- Customer Support

Customer Assistance

As stated in the sections above, WooCommerce takes a more individual approach when it comes to managing and handling the nuances of the website. Hence, there isn’t much one-on-one consumer support, except the help sections and community forums.

Shopify has a winning and unparalleled approach when it comes to thorough and extensive consumer support. You get to communicate directly with the support team and experts through a round the clock set up. It includes 24×7 live chat, email and phone support alongside detailed tutorials and guides.

Evidently, there isn’t much to debate and Shopify can be declared as the winner hands-down when it comes to customer support. In fact, it is one of the best and finest in the industry.

#10- Overall Experience

Experience of Shopify and WooCommerce

As WooCommerce accounts for a major share in the market place, we can say that it is a tool meant for the masses. Its simplistic appeal and the robust partnership with WordPress, makes it a great choice for all businesses, big and small.

The market share and realm of Shopify is rapidly growing. If you are willing to invest money, instead of efforts and time, it can be a great option for you. It is best for businesses that seek more wholesome and luxury solutions, most of which is automated.

Shopify and WooCommerce are quite different from each other and yet stand in close contest on almost every aspect. Both the platforms have their own charm and offer a distinct bouquet of benefits.

WooCommerce Mobile Store: The power of eCommerce

WooCommerce mobile store

In our blog that we published the other day, we told you how you can setup your online business by creating a WordPress + WooCommerce site. However, if you own a WooCommerce website already, you have made a smart choice. Out of the top million websites, 68,000 of them are WooCommerce and the total strength stands in millions.

Clearly, this is a golden period for retail eCommerce stores as the fusion of websites and mobile devices are unlocking new opportunities of success for them. Even when your consumers are shopping on websites instead of apps, most of the traffic comes from mobile devices.

Hence, it becomes significant that your product pages are optimized to suit all devices. While there are many tutorials and guides available for the same, many do not talk about the nuances in detail, or just stuff their content with unnecessary information.

However, our comprehensive guide will help you address the issue in a smarter way. You can learn to add products to the store here, and refer to our other blogs to know about other aspects of the WooCommerce industry in detail.

Add products smartly and increase consumers’ basket size

When your products are organized and enlisted tidily, your customers can end up shopping more than they actually aim to. On the other hand, poorly listed and categorized products can turn off even potential customers.

Let us discover the right way of adding products to the WooCommerce store. It involves a few major steps, as discussed below in detail:

Step #1: ‘Create Product’

Create Product section

The first step is to install WooCommerce. Use your WordPress admin dashboard for this process.

Go to ‘Plugins > Add new’, and search for WooCommerce.

Click on ‘Install’ followed by ‘Activate’ and you will be directed to the WooCommerce Wizard.

Once you’ve run the wizard, you can proceed to add products to your store.

Open your WordPress Dashboard and look for ‘Products’ on the menu section.

Click on it, followed by ‘Create Product’ button next, to launch the WordPress editor.

With this, you will be directed to the dashboard where you can add and modify your product details.

Step #2: Add ‘Title and Description’

Add product title and description

In the editor, add the NAME of the product in the ‘Title’ section and describe the product. Use the big box or the ‘Description’ section located below.

Write a compelling copy and describe the product clearly, including all the necessary details.

Make use of the font editing and formatting tools wherever necessary.

Dos: Use simple vocabulary and relevant keywords that users will type to search for that product, and highlight important features.

Don’ts: Avoid writing unnecessary lengthy descriptions with long and confusing words.

Step #3: Choose your ‘Product Type’

It is important that you be aware of the objective of your store and define your product type accordingly. You can choose the same category for all the products or different categories for varied products if you sell a range of items.

Primarily, WooCommerce allows sellers to select from the following types as listed below:

  • Simple: This is the default category mainly used for products that do not need any customized bundling.
  • Grouped: This type is used for collections and pack of multiple products, best suited for products clubbed for combo deals.
  • External/Affiliate: This type is meant for dropship businesses. You can use this category if you rely on third party suppliers for the stock of that product.
  • Variable: You can use this category if you want to list the product with variants and multiple options like size, color, brand, etc.
  • Virtual: This category is used for products that are non-tangible and do not require shipping. For instance, a monthly subscription of a magazine, tokens and coins for upgrades, etc.
  • Downloadable: As evident, this type is for products that can be downloaded as files, software, etc. For instance, the sale and purchase of e-books, PDF documents, and akin.

To select the relevant categories, simply open the drop-down menu under ‘Product Data’ and select, or check relevant boxes.

Step #4: Fill the ‘Product Meta Data’

After you have selected the product type, proceed to add detailed information under the ‘Product Data’ segment. The tabs for modifying the same, are located at the left and can be navigated as required.

The tabs under the ‘Product Data’ section include:

a. General

Here, you enter the pricing and tax details. Add the marked price under the ‘Regular Price’ section; the final price under ‘Sales Price’ section; select tax status; and select tax class.

b. Inventory

WordPress is a wonderful tool that even allows you to add and manage your product stock. To locate this section (if the Inventory tab is not visible by default), go to WooCommerce > Settings > Products > Inventory.

Before you proceed to add inventory details, assign SKU or the unique identification number to each product. This can be done manually or with the help of plugins.

Once the identity has been attributed, you can add other details as listed below:

  • Check ‘stock management on product level’ box to automate the inventory management, else,’ leave it unchecked if you want to do it manually
  • Add the quantity of the products available under ‘Stock Quantity’
  • ‘Allow backorders’ for products still under manufacturing and not ready for delivery yet
  • Add a ‘Low Stock Threshold’ number at which you want to get notified about low stock. You will be notified when these many products will be left in that category.
c. Shipping

If your product is tangible, add the details here to facilitate delivery. Enter product weight, dimension and other details and also define the shipping class.

Note: Shipping class is the category under which the product is placed based on its material state, weight, and more. It helps is determining the right mode of transportation, priority, handling, etc.

d. Linked Products

Linked products

Cross sell or up-sell by linking and recommending similar products or products with better offers, quality, price, deals, discounts, etc.

e. Attributes

Define product attributions like color, size, brand, seller, etc. Give authentic and correct information only.

f. Advanced

Add a purchase note or enable a ‘review’ section that will appear after order placement. Build social proof and validate your products with the help of reviews, ratings and feedback.

Step #5: Elaborate the ‘Product Details’

Enter product details

Add a short description to give a brief and preliminary insight about the product to hook the attention of the buyers. Use clenching adjectives that compel your readers to add it to their cart.

Open the ‘Product Short Description’ box and add a line or two about the product, using keywords. Add the finishing touches to your product page and make it completely ready.

Proceed to elaborate the following details:

Elaborate product details

  • Image: Add a standard image of the product. It should be in high quality and large enough, as it appears on the main product page, in catalogs and other places too. Keep the dimensions big, but keep the file size small to support faster response.
  • Gallery: Add a photo catalogue, collection or gallery of the product images for a more detailed reference. You can use it to add visual weightage to your store.
  • Category Tags: Cautiously organize your products by adding relevant tags. Use search-friendly words and attributions to define your product categories.

Step #6: ‘Publish’ and repeat to continue

Publish product list

Once you have entered all the product details and checked it, you can proceed to make it live for your customers. Hit the ‘Publish’ button and put it out for sale.

You can use the template and settings of this product to add other products to your store. Repeat the process and continue adding more products to your store.

Use ‘Copy to a new draft’ link located at the right side below the ‘Publish’ bar and use the same template to add more products.

That’s it! Your process of adding products to the store will be complete and your site will be ready to serve consumers.

Rise of M-Commerce: Trends that will surface in 2020

Rise of M-Commerce: Trends that will surface in 2020

The graph of the mobile app industry has been pointing upwards for more than a decade now. Without a doubt, smartphones are to blame for the momentous growth this industry has witnessed.

If you imagine, a good smartphone loaded with essential apps is all you need to get your day going. With the changing preferences of the customers, online shopping has been greatly influenced by mobile apps too.

The change in the trends calls for e-commerce website owners to adapt to trends and build a mobile app if they haven’t already. Regardless of the how great an experience your website offers, you are losing a huge chunk of audience that prefers smartphones over desktops.

If you are worried about the cost of building an app, you can always create an app from your website. This is a much affordable alternative to custom apps and involves lesser time too.

In this post, we will discuss the emerging m-commerce trends this year, and the ways that you can be a part of it. Let’s get started:

Using apps for shopping

Using apps for shopping

The ease of access to buy products instantly has made shopping on mobile apps popular. Online shoppers have changed their preferences from shopping on websites to mobile apps.

Web browsers certainly work well when customers are looking for a new product but mobile apps are proven to convert more orders. If you have a base of existing and loyal customers, you have all the more reason to build mobile apps. Repeated shopping often takes place through mobile apps because of the ease of access.

Some e-commerce store owners still believe than responsive mobile websites are a good alternative to mobile apps. However, studies prove that a customer is likely to spend 80 percent of his/her time on a mobile app compared to 10 percent on a responsive website.

If you already have WooCommerce website, you can simply use AppMySite’s WooCommerce app builder to create a fully blown mobile app in a code-free environment.

Increased sales from smartphones

Increased sales from smartphones

Customers no longer have the patience to sit down at their desktop for extended duration, especially to shop. Smartphones have become their go to device for anything and everything they need, including shopping.

The fact that mobile apps can be accessed at any time of the day and at any location, appeals to the customers the most. This is reason why conversion rate on a mobile app is much higher compared to a website.

Given the fact that mobile apps can be used from not just smartphones but also tablets, makes them more accessible to the customers compared to websites.

Besides making it extremely easy for customers to access your products, mobile apps ease down the process of marketing for the businesses as well. Push notifications are a great tool to encourage customers to instantly buy from you, especially during promotions.

Although it ideal that mobile apps are optimized to work on a big screen of a tablet and a small screen of a smartphone, there are chances that most customers will be more inclined to buying from the later this year.

Easy ordering preferences

Easy ordering preferences

Customers in today’s world look forward to seamless shopping experience. A lot of mobile apps will be seen easing off the process of checking out this year to offer a smoother shopping experience to the customer.

This would involves saving customer’s time from entering minute detail during the checkout process, every single time. If mobile apps can optimize and simplify this process, they will see a significant decrease in the cart abandonment rate.

This feature is, however, impossible to achieve on a responsive website which is why the most customers end up abandoning their cart completely. Comparatively, mobile apps can achieve a much higher conversion rate because of one-click ordering convenience.

Even though both responsive websites and mobile apps are run on the same device, the conversion rate is higher in mobile apps. To a lot of businesses, giving customers the option to save their card details on their app may not seem very important. Considering low patience and less time are a deadly combination, you don’t want to give customers any reason to abandon their cart.

A lot of business will be seen investing in mobile apps to achieve one-click ordering this year to follow this trend.

Featuring voice assistance

Featuring voice assistance

Virtual voice assistants are not limited to searching the internet for the latest news anymore. This year will witness voice assistance as a part of shopping apps for an effortless shopping experience to the customers.

The idea of shopping using this feature will not be restricted to simply searching for products. Customers will not only look for products using this tool but will also be able to add products to cart, search categories and more.

In a study by Adobe that included 400 business decision makers, concluded that more than 90 percent of them are willing to take the plunge of investing in this feature.

This technology is likely to be embraced by brands that sell digital products before roping in businesses of other industries.

This trend may be a huge leap for smaller businesses but as bigger companies start implementing it as a part of their mobile app, it will be easier to adapt to this trend in the upcoming year.

Deploying chatbots

Deploying chatbots

Most successful businesses understand the power of a good customer support system. Chatbots were introduced years ago to empower online businesses to offer basic customer assistance around the clock.

Even though this technology is not new to us, it has still not found its way to most businesses throughout the world. This year will be different for this technology.

With the launch of new features in this technology, more and more online businesses are welcoming it as a part of their customer support. While chatbots are already popular amongst e-commerce websites, this year they will make their way in m-commerce too.

Businesses are starting to believe in automating their processes rather than involving human resources. Moreover, chatbots are now more human and are equipped with artificial intelligence that makes them irresistible.

There are chances that you will end up saving more money and also reduce the ticket time of a customer. It’s win-win for both you and your customers.

Implementing Virtual & Augment Reality

Implementing Virtual & Augment Reality

Even if you are not from a technical background, there is a very less possibility that you haven’t heard of virtual reality and augmented reality. After gaining popularity in the gaming industry, AR and VR have started penetrating the m-commerce market too.

Numerous big players are already deploying augmented reality to uplift the experience of their app users. Mostly, this technology is being used by home décor businesses to offer a virtual representation of their product. This not only eliminates the doubt that the customer may have while buying the product but also decreases the chances of refunds.

M-commerce is still far behind implementing AR and VR as an offering to their customer. However, this year looks promising for both the technologies to be introduced in shopping apps to enhance customer experience.

Multi-channel shopping platforms

Multi-channel shopping platforms

Instead of investing all the blood and money on one platform, businesses these days are happier selling through multiple channels. For instance: anyone who has an online store, a shopping app and brick and mortar store is following this trend.

This strategy is becoming popular so that customers can choose to buy from whichever platform they are comfortable with. Additionally, seeing your brand operate on multiple channel only boosts their trust and encourages them to buy from you more often than not.

Imagine yourself as a customer, you like a pair of jeans in a physical store but you don’t want to indulge in impulsive buying so you decide to buy it later. The chances of you buying this product will increase massively if the store informs you they have a mobile app too. This means that you can make up your mind and buy it any time you like.

Most businesses with physical stores already have a WooCommerce website to sell their products. All they need is a mobile app to offer a multi-channel shopping experience to their customers.

Some of the retail stores are going above and beyond to motivate their customers through mobile apps. Geo-location push notifications is a recent development that physical stores have been using. In simple words, you can send push notifications to your customers whenever they’re in your location.

Imposing cyber security

Imposing cyber security

With a massive increase in smartphone usage, mobile frauds have become more prevalent from the past few years. Customers are unwilling to indulge in shopping with brands that they have never heard of.

This poses a great challenge for small scale business owners who simply want to establish themselves in the market, or even so just become local champions. The bigger brands are winning the fight because customers trust the brand and know their account details are safe with them.

This gives small businesses all the more reason to invest in assets that make customers feel more secured. Fortunately, e-commerce businesses that have a Shopify website, can easily build an app for their business using a reliable Shopify mobile app builder to establish trust amongst customers.

One of the main reasons why customers don’t prefer shopping on mobile browsers is trust which mobile apps automatically come with. Customers tend to feel more secured with mobile apps compared to responsive websites.

In one of the sections above, we discussed about one-click ordering which helps save customer’s payment details that can be used every time they place an order. An e-commerce mobile app is a great medium to provide secure payment channel to your patrons.

Moreover, you can also impose two-factor authentication through One Time Password and secure customer’s payment details. This is more of a necessity than a trend.

Including wallet payments

Including wallet payments

Mobile wallets have become an integral part of digital payments in the past few years. Their popularity is not limited to only online shopping, customers find it extremely comforting to pay from mobile wallets in brick and mortar stores as well.

Amazon pay instantly gained popularity when it was launched, considering the number of people who shop from this e-commerce portal is massive. However, the most popular of them all are Samsung Pay, Apple Pay and Android Pay that customers from all around the world are using.

The total mobile wallets users were account for 2.1 billion in the year 2019 which is expected to rise by 1.6 billion in the year 2020. While you are launching your business in the world of m-commerce, you can also introduce mobile wallets as an additional payment channel to your customers.

Launch your business in m-commerce today!

Like we said, the graph of mobile app usage will be on a rise for several years to come. The trends will change constantly while collaborating with newer technology every year.

While m-commerce ropes in both responsive websites and mobile apps, statistics only prove that apps are doing better amongst customers.

If you haven’t still build your mobile app yet, consider using AppMySite’s free online app maker. This platform will give you the freedom to design your shopping app yourself and launch it on a shoestring budget.

Call-to-Action buttons – All you need to know about high conversion CTAs

Call-to-Action buttons – All you need to know about high conversion CTAs

Every day we come across multiple instances when we interact with a website, an online application, display ads or other digital assets. We usually navigate from one page to another on these applications via different buttons.

What exactly are CTAs?

We’ve all fallen prey to attractive discounts or other offers online and bought merchandise. Other times we encountered prompts that ask us to subscribe or sign up for an email news-letter.

These buttons that prompt an action from users are called call to action or CTA buttons. The call to action button plays an important role in all such conversions.

Call to action (or CTA) originated as a marketing term that refers to an action that a marker wants its audience to take along the user journey.

In the context of the websites and apps you encounter daily online, the call-to-action (CTA) is a button that prompts the user to act. It can either correspond to direct sales or for navigating the audience to the next step in the journey. CTAs guide users towards goal conversions.

Since this is a complete guide on call-to-action buttons and is rather large, we’ve broken it down into byte sized sections that you can directly navigate to.

This guide is segmented in the following sections.

1. What makes a good call to action button?
2. The optimum design practices for CTA buttons
3. Top tips on color selection for CTA buttons
4. How to write persuasive copies for CTA buttons?
5. How to place the CTA button optimally?
6. Some examples of brilliant high converting CTA buttons
7. Wrapping up

What makes a good call-to-action button?

Now we must always remember that call-to-action can also be a simple text prompt, an image or a button. Though stats have proved that CTA buttons have always performed better for conversions. Which makes designing a good call-to-action button a necessity for any website or app to succeed.

A lot goes into the making of a perfect CTA button that brings high conversions. Let us start from the basics, a CTA button consists of a few essential elements. These are listed as follows.

  1. Shape & size
  2. Color
  3. Copy
  4. Placement

What separates a good CTA from a bad one is just the optimum combination of these elements. Let us discuss them briefly.

#1 – Shape and size

Now a designer has complete freedom to design the CTA button the way he/she wants to. However, the industry standard and the ones that have seen maximum conversions are the ones that are rectangular and rounded rectangle in shape.

When it comes to selecting a size, make sure that the button is big enough to grab your audience’s attention and offers enough space for the intended copy to be readable.

We will go over the optimum design practices in the upcoming section.

#2 – Color

This may seem to be a small but in fact is a really big deal for increasing conversions. And this is a secret that only a few seasoned designers know.

Color selection plays an important role because humans react differently to different colors. And the same applies to button design as well.

We will discuss the theory and some top strategies on best color selection in upcoming sections of this article.

#3 – Copy

Copies are the meat of the button. It is the prompt that is displayed on the button. It conveys the action that you want your audience to take next.

While the copy depends on the type of action you require, there are some general guidelines that one should follow for a high conversion ratio. We will discuss these in depth in the coming sections of this article.

#4 – Placement

There are many sources online that give different guidelines on the placement of CTA buttons. Some preach above the fold and others below the fold, while both are correct in their own sense but the best approach is to follow the design.

The placement of a CTA button is discussed in greater lengths in the upcoming sections.

The optimum design practices for CTA buttons

Here are some of the top design practices that you must implement for a successful CTA button that brings in the conversions.

1. Have a consistent design
2. Reserve primary colors for the CTA
3. Have a clean design
4. The CTA must stand out to grab attention
5. A/B test to determine the best design

Let us discuss each strategy in detail.

#1 – Consistent design

Having a consistent design is of utmost importance for any website or mobile app design. This is applicable for the size, shape and color of the CTA buttons.

While different CTAs may target different objectives, therefore they can have different copies or action prompts. But keep their shape and size consistent.

The buttons should also compliment the overall design of the page.

Any inconsistency not only shows that your website or app is not professionally designed, which in turn may hamper your brand image.

Not only that, but inconsistencies are very distracting for any viewer and this may result in high churn.

PRO TIP: In case you have two CTA buttons aligned together and one of them holds higher priority than another. Then you can assign the primary color to the button that and a secondary shade to the less important.

This is shown in the example below.

Consistent Design

Otherwise, you can give both buttons the same design if they have equal priority. As showcased in the following example.

Consistent design

#2 – Primary colors for CTA

The best of the designs are the ones that reserve the primary colors for the CTA buttons. Ensure that you select bright and attention-grabbing colors and designate the primary color to the button.

Most successful designs have the colorful buttons on either white or black clean backgrounds. This immediately helps draw your audiences’ attention to the button.

The following example will help us understand this further.

Primary colors of CTA

The button on the left blends with the background color and does not stand out or attract users, that leads to very low conversions. It is very difficult to locate the button in the first place.

However, on the right-hand side, the button is clearly visible and easy to locate that leads to higher conversions.

Which button would you select from these?

#3 – Clean design

The best of the designs are clean and to the point. Do not clutter a lot of design elements in single space as it distributes your viewer’s attention and does not convert well.

Having a clean design helps your audience cut through the noise and results in many more clicks than ever before.

We will see some examples of brilliant call-to-action buttons in the upcoming section.

#4 – Stand out

This should be a given, if you want conversions, you must highlight your CTA buttons in the best possible way (without going overboard of course).

And essentially, all the above ideas we discussed boils down to this single strategy, to have your CTA’s stand out in the design.

Pick the color, shape and design of the button that not only compliments your overall page design but also shines in it. Make sure that the button does not blend in with the design.

Let us examine the following example for greater understanding.

Primary Colors of Call to action button

The example on the left is a simple hyperlink whereas the example on the right is a well-designed button that stands out and attracts more click throughs.

#5 – A/B test

We know that achieving perfection is impossible, especially with something as subjective as design. Even while designing you might have spent a good amount of time deciding the better design from the ones you’ve created.

No true designer ever creates just one design for the same project. They always have multiple options to choose from.

This is exactly where A/B testing comes into play. Run a simple A/B test and let your audience decide the better option for your brand.

Conducting an A/B test is an optional step; however, it is highly recommended.

Top tips on color selection CTA buttons

As we discussed earlier, color selection is an important part of any CTA design.

Different colors bring out different emotions. For instance, colors like orange and red emote optimism and excitement, the color blue emotes trust and the green emotes growth and peace.

Which is why you must select a color that compliments your objectives with the call-to-action button. In a test performed by Hubspot, the red button outperformed the green button by 21% in terms of conversions.

Why don’t we perform the same test right now? From the 3 buttons below, which one are you likely to click on more?

Top tips on color selection CTA buttons

Finally, make sure that all the buttons are consistent and compliment the design. We discuss this further in the next section.

How to write persuasive copies for CTA buttons?

TL;DR: The copy should be short, crisp, attention grabbing and action oriented. They should be able to compel anyone reading it to click through.

You’ve designed the buttons optimally and have figured everything about the button, however, having a compelling copy is as important, if not more important, as the other factors.

Many times, we spend hours of testing with the buttons, colors, fonts and other factors but rarely do we focus that much on the button content.

Creating a compelling copy for the CTA button is a complex process, however, we will try to break down the process for you.

Since the space is limited, therefore, the copy should not only be short but also to the point and exactly convey the action required.

However, there are a few keywords that have been identified to be most persuasive in nature. They are as follows.

  • Free
  • New
  • Guarantee
  • Start
  • Easy
  • You
  • Now

This list of keywords has been curated by experts after years of experience. These keywords work well since they instantly prompt an emotional reaction.

You can then combine the above keywords with an action-oriented verb to create the perfect copy. These are.

  • Start
  • Stop
  • Build
  • Join
  • Learn
  • Discover
  • Register/Sign up
  • Login/Sign in

Some examples for compelling CTA copies are as follows.

  • Sign up FREE
  • Get started
  • Continue with Facebook
  • Find out more
  • Buy now
  • Check out
  • Learn more
  • Save up to 50%

… and more.

Another very effective strategy is to create CTA copies that create a sense of urgency and drives visitors to take immediate action.

  • Only X days left
  • Limited supply
  • Closing soon
  • While supplies last
  • Today only
  • Last chance
  • Only till offer lasts
  • Offer ends on “date”
  • Hurry
  • Immediately
  • Subscribe NOW!

PRO TIP: You can experiment with uppercase and lowercase alphabets for your button copy. Both have different effects and can highlight specific terms or the whole copy.

How to place the CTA button optimally

The placement of the CTA button should be dictated by the complexity of the page design and not by a single rule.

A page that is short and has very less content, consider placing the button above the fold and for a page that has complex information and greater amounts of content, consider placing the button below the fold.

In fact, “the fold” methodology for CTA buttons is a myth and a test conducted by Marketing Experiments proved that longer landing pages generate 220% more leads than the simple above the fold call-to-action button.

While the above is true for a website but it becomes even more complex for a mobile application. Especially the shopping apps like WooCommerce mobile apps that are mostly filled with product and category buttons. The same also goes for Shopify mobile apps and other such eCommerce apps.

Here the button placement should follow a natural downward zig-zag pattern that starts from the top left to the bottom right. This follows the natural scanning pattern and is termed as the Gutenberg Principle, this was coined by Edmung Arnold, the renowned newspaper designer.

Gutenberg Principle

Generally, a mobile design with the button at the button performs better than the design where the button is on the top

How mobile app downloads bring discoverability on Google Play Store

How mobile app downloads bring discoverability on Google Play Store

Creating an app from a website is no more a big deal, especially when you have a reliable app builder available at your disposal.

The real challenge lies in increasing the visibility of your mobile app on Google Play Store after you’ve launched it successfully.

Before we discuss various tips to boost your app’s visibility, it is important that you understand why you want to do it after all. The idea behind scoring a good position on Play Store is inviting more downloads.

When customers come looking for an app for a service you cater to, your app must be in top results. If you don’t, the existence of your app will not matter.

While there are multiple ways to improve the ranking of your app, App Search Optimization is one of the best ways to rank well on Play Store.

In this post, we will unfold a few tips to optimize your app that will boost the ranking of your app. Let’s get started:

1. Important elements that matter

mobile app elements

When you submit your app to the Play Store, you have to understand its algorithm. The Play Store prefers ranking apps who give important to the following elements:

a. Title
b. Description
c. Promo text
d. Keywords

a. Title

The first thing that your user interacts with is the app title. You can easily say that this is the name that your potential app users will recognize you with.

You can also make a little modifications to your brand name and name your app the same. This practice is usually carried out to optimize your brand name so that it more searchable on Play Store. The change can be subtle and not change the name of your brand completely and focus on giving your app new wings to get a ranking.

Here are a few tips to consider when you are picking up a title for your app:

  • Make it as unique as possible.
  • Do not use standard terms or phrases.
  • Reference and reinforce what your app does.
  • Keep it short and precise.

b. Description

Now that your title of the app is finalized, it is time to focus on its description. The description of your mobile app gives you a chance to explain the main offerings of your app.

Primarily, it is important that you optimize the description with relevant keywords for better search results. However, stuffing in the description with unreasonable amount of keywords, will call for ‘keyword spamming’ and can ban your app from the Play Store.

Additionally, you cannot include anything that Google considers restricted content. This restricted content includes, for example:

  • Violence
  • Gambling
  • Hate Speech
  • Harassment or Bullying
  • Sexual Content
  • Illegal Activity

Google guidelines are mostly focused on providing genuine content to the users. This is why, it restricts app owners to mislead users with the app description. In simple words, you cannot say that your app does something that it does not.

Moreover, your app description must not seen as an imitation of another app, brand, or business. You cannot even use anyone else’s intellectual property while writing a description.

Your app description should be pertinent to your brand and business.

c. Promo text

This promo text on the store should only be one line long.

d. Keywords

These play an important role in the title as well as the description of your app. Play with them carefully. Like we said, abusing this facility can lead to app deletion.

2. User interface

mobile app user interface

High-quality graphic designs can boost your mobile app ranking on the Google Play Store. These graphics include:

a. App Icon
b. Images
c. Screenshots

These designs will help your app stand out from the rest in search results.

a. App Icon

Your app icon should be bright, compelling, and inviting to easily entice users to install it.

It is ideal that you don’t just go with a specific color scheme. Instead, find something unusual that will get the user’s attention. This will help you get more app downloads, which simply impacts your ranking on the Play Store.

b. App Screenshots

Screenshots are a reflection of your mobile app, a good potrayal of what your app will look like to the users.

The screenshots of your app should be designed to display the top features and key benefits of the app. You can highlight the uniqueness of your app and how it makes life easier for prospective users.

c. Images

Incorporating high-defination images as a part of your mobile app gives a reflection of a professionalism. Regardless of building your app with a mobile app builder or custom development, it is important that you include only high-quality images.

Your prospective users may be viewing your app from a 7-inch tablet or even a 10-inch tablet, for example. If, however, the images of the app get distorted on a big screen, it will negatively impact your download rate, which in turn, adversely affects your ranking.

3. Expand your audience

expand your audience

A diverse target audience should be ultimate goal to get higher app downloads on the Play Store. Diversity simply means you are expecting audience from all around the world and language can be a barrier in that case.

Google has machine translations of all the listings in the Play Store. You can also use a professional service that translates the features and description of your app in the language you want.

Computer translations, at times, are inaccurate because they do not translate exactly the way the phrasing is meant to be conveyed.

If your app description is accurately translated by a professional translator, it will increase your chances of getting more hits globally. You can either go to Google Play Developer Console or can hire your own language expert to transcribe the text manually. This will help improve your ranking by divulging the app to a more diverse audience.

If your language sounds metaphorical, your words will literally be lost in translation. In simple words, your language should be the same when someone is searching for their native language.

4. Focus on the download rate

download rating

Launching your app on the Google Play Store is a smart move. There is nothing to stop your mobile app from becoming successful if it performs well too.

If the download rate gets reduced, it will impact your search ranking in the Play Store.

According to a survey, the Google Play Store has 135% more downloads as opposed to the Apple App Store. These stats should be encouraging, but also says that it is a competitive space.

You need to use best marketing skills to promote your app and to get more downloads.

When it comes to your app promotion, you already have an advantage if you are running an existing business. You have marketing channels and customers in place.

This simply means that you can easily reach your email subscriber list, promote your app on social media channels, talk about it on your blog and the website to promote the app.

The more downloads you get at a fast rate, the more you will boost your search ranking. However, a high ranking involves much more than just downloads.

You cannot make money if nobody is downloading the app. You will need users who actually use your app.

If, however, your app is not adding any value to their life or providing any entertainment, they will have no reason to use it.

If your app users have complaints or suggestions for the app’s performance, take those in your consideration. Fix bugs or glitches, and then come up with new versions of the app.

User experience contributes to numerous factors including your app’s performance, its appearance, your product offering and a seamless navigation.

Wrapping up

The lifecycle of your app will not be complete until you are past the development phase.

Once you have created an Android app, encourage users to download it from the Play Store to achieve success. If your app gets ranked high on the store, it will be easier for Android users to find your app.

Start with a strong title that should be short, memorable, and speak to the functionality of your app. Include keywords in the app’s description to boost its search optimization. Focus on the images of the app that display exactly how your app works to prospective users.

Design a professional and creative app icon for your app that stays within all of the guidelines set in place by Google.

Cumulatively, this is a recipe for success to direct your app toward the top of the Google Play Store rankings.

Mobile games are not only easily accessible by players but also have found a huge audience of viewers.

Video games have a cult following, just like sports and mobile games are no exception. Many people have made professional gaming their careers and are quite successful in it.

The basics of Influencer Marketing

Influencer marketing for mobile apps

Influencer marketing is a concept that emerged out of celebrity marketing. The popular media faces, or celebs, as we call them, have been endorsing and marketing products since ages. But their reach has always been limited to big brands, that can invest huge sum of money.

However, the rise of social media has brought a revolution and led to the emergence of ‘influencer concept’. It is turning ordinary people into celebs that enjoy a good number of following and command over masses.

Pros & Cons

Measure the pros and cons

Influencer marketing has a great deal of advantage and can benefit the business in the long run. It can help you gain popularity and earn good number of installations for your mobile app.

However, like any other strategy, it has its own share of drawbacks as well. In general, you can take help from the list discussed below:

Pros of Influencer Marketing:

  • More affordable than celebrity marketing
  • Fetches immediate attention & results
  • Gets highly active and engaging users
  • Boosts installations & conversions
  • Earns stronger brand recognition
  • Builds social proof & authenticity

Cons of Influencer Marketing:

  • Cracking agreements can be tricky
  • Lack of standard pricing practices
  • Unpredictable results & output
  • Highly reliant on third-parties
  • Can lead to short-term impacts

Types of Influencers:

With time and age, the concept of Influencer Marketing has ripened a lot and has become more strategic & organized. The influencers are now divided into certain categories and businesses can choose whatever suits their needs.

The most prominent types of influencers include the Networkers (with a large number of contacts & connections), the influential Opinion Leaders and the social media Content Creators.

They can also be divided into the following categories based on their popularity:

1. Macro Level Influencers

They are people who enjoy vast popularity & stardom and have millions of followers. If you have a good budget and strong outreach strategy, you can take them on board. They are good for building a niche brand reputation, creating more buzz & driving more engagements.

2. Micro Level Influencers

They are the average buzz creators who enjoy limited popularity and thus, are cost-effective. They often have a good deal of categorized followers, often in thousands or few lakhs. They are good to go with, if you wish to target a specific audience that looks up to them.

Steps to promote app with influencer marketing

Influencer Marketing is appealing many businesses due to its unique and universal appeal. We have gone through a great deal of efforts to compile every worthy piece of information to give more insights about it.

Go through the list of details we have curated and leverage your marketing strategy:

1. Identify reasonable goals

Find your goals

The first step towards any marketing endeavour is to measure the goals. Make the best use of the resources and efforts by determining the purpose and targets. This will help you in redirecting and channelizing your efforts productively.

Although, in this case the key goal, most certainly, is to increase the number of downloads. However, you can have many other defined targets that ultimately lead to this destination.

With respect to app promotion, it can be done to achieve a variety of things. For instance, you can use it to:

  • Populate your business app and products
  • Advertise new offers, updates, features, or more
  • Attract new customers and increase engagements
  • Retain existing consumers or re-engage lost users

2. Determine the target audience

Find your right audience

Any marketing initiative is ultimately meant for your consumers. Therefore, it is important that you target the right people who will likely relate with your app and your product.

Your targeted audience will also determine the choice of your influencer, platforms, and more. Also keep in mind that different things appeal differently to people of different age, gender, class, location, and more. Consider these factors and measure your target audience accordingly.

To fix this, you can look answer to questions like: Who are the people you want to reach out to, where will they be present and how can your campaign influence them. Finding answer for these questions will help you know your potential customers better.

3. Choose the right influencers

How to choose the right influencer for your mobile app

This is the most crucial and the trickiest part of your campaign. However, if you assemble the other pieces of the puzzle rightly, this can become a cakewalk.

It is evident that the market place is highly unpredictable so one cannot really predict what will click. However, the best approach is to find an influencer that confirms to your product idea and has genuine willingness to promote it.

For instance, if you sell books through your mobile app, you can rope in a literary figure with sound knowledge of authors & books. The idea is to find someone that can resonate your app language. Also, their image and ambition should align and affirm with yours.

4. Select the right platform

Choose right marketing platform

The next step after finding your goals, influencer and audience sampling, is choosing the right distribution platform. As per the general belief, Instagram is considered as the best platform for Celebrity or Influencer Marketing.

However, if you ask us, we would defy any such formula. It totally depends on your plan and approach. Nothing is written in stone when it comes to principles of marketing. You can learn from your competitors or listen to your own self and decide accordingly.

Use Facebook or YouTube, stick to one channel or branch out, drop teasers on your websites or use social media, or carve out your own plan. The key is to align things according to your resources and build a hype around your campaign.

5. Design the outreach strategy

Optimize influencer marketing for your mobile app

A strong outreach strategy is the building block of a successful influencer marketing campaign. It is important that you choose a viable marketplace, an adaptive platform and set everything straight before you put the program in action.

Reaching out to the influencers and convincing them can be mind-numbing. You can optimize ways or look for relevant agencies that can provide wholesome solutions. They can help in roping in influencers of your choice and getting desired results.

Else, just contact them directly and use your skills to communicate your motives and details of the campaign. Get on common grounds on matters like budget, legalities, time, etc., and settle everything before you proceed to draw the final draft.

You can choose from the three common types of influencer agreements. They are:

a. Shoutouts: This is the most cost-effective type. Here, the influencers just mention about your products in brief or slip in the app name intuitively.

b. Gameplay: The costs can be higher here as the influencer will tell about your products in detail. Go for it if you aim for higher engagements.

c. Visibility: The campaign broadens to brand awareness and social proof. It is costlier but can be used to target a larger audience.

6. Execute a robust campaign

How to promote your app with Influencers

This is the stage where you execute the strong campaign you have ideated. Learn from your industry competitors and also seek advice from the influencers. Make them feel welcomed and a part of the entire initiative.

Make videos and draft copies as per your content need and communicate it to the people involved. Focus on the details like campaign slogans, post timings, relevant CTA (Call to Action) prompts and more.

Also place quantifiable success metrics if required. Use your own parameters or go by traditional standards and models like Cost Per Click (CPC), Cost Per Mile (CPM), Cost Per Installation (CPI), or more.

Create ample buzz about the campaign and keep it consistent. Place campaign content on relevant platforms and cross-promote it. Send push notifications or use referral rewards technique, hashtag campaigns, and more, to make people talk about it and be a part of it.

Give creative liberty to your influencers and let them play the game, but supervise everything. Draft a story to tell and have a ‘sell without selling approach.’

7. Analyze the results & feedback

Analyze influencer marketing result

Even after a seemingly successful campaign, there are many things that can lead to a learning experience. Find out the effects and after-effects of your campaign and carry out detailed analysis of the same.

Do not limit your findings to counting the number of impressions and installations. Find all the strong & weak points and the highs & lows of the campaign.

Thrive on the profits and channelize them productively. Learn what worked and what did not and reinvent to set your future goals accordingly.

Catalyze your success now!

This was our detailed tour where we discussed the different facets of influencer marketing in detail. This glamorous marketing technique has its own perks and can give your business the awaited boost with a little investment of time, money and efforts.

WooCommerce is an exceptional choice to launch your online store. You are halfway there if your e-commerce website is built on WordPress and integrated with a WooCommerce plugin.

With the best tools at your disposal, there should be nothing to stop you from making your business a success. Running an e-commerce business can be more challenging then building one.

In this post, we will discuss ideas that will help you grow your WooCommerce store in a tough competition in the digital world. Let’s get started:

Bring high quality images into play

Bring high quality images into play

It is impossible to put on a great show without showcasing the best pictures of your products. Shopping from an online store is completely dependent on the virtual exhibition of your products.

You can certainly encourage customers to browse through your collection and eventually convince them to buy if they see potential in your product, through images.

Imagine shopping online yourself, you will only be inclined to buy products that are visually appealing and genuine.

Avoid uploading images that are not great quality. Instead, go for a photo shoot of your products through a professional camera. Even better, hire a professional photographer to click high-definition images from all angles.

Moreover, give customers a good number of pictures to see from. The chances of conversion will be higher if you include multiple shots of your product.

If you are willing to take this a level above, add a zoom in feature for your products enabling the WooCommerce Zoom. This functionality should allow users to see your products closely.

Lastly, make sure each image type is consistent. For instance: if you have chosen a white background, have the photographer take all shots in the same background.

Focus on building a brand image

brand image

In the last section, we discussed keeping a constant style of your product shots. This is the first step towards building a professional online store and building a reputation amongst customers.

Besides flaunting well shot images, persistently keeping a unique style through your e-commerce store is great step towards creating a brand image.

You can achieve this by creating a copy for your page design, which can be further used on all your pages. Implement this copy consistently on every page of your WooCommerce store, including product page, contact us page, cart, checkout and more.

Manufacture meaningful content

Manufacturing meaningful content

Visual appeal coupled with valuable content are the best components to form a perfect WooCommerce store for your customers.

Besides creating a professional and unique brand image, it also ideal to create familiarity with the customers. You can easily achieve this by sharing your journey with your patrons through your website.

Alongside, create transparency by giving customers knowledge of how you procure products, manufacture them and finally get them ready for them.

To take this a notch above, introduce a blog page on your online store and regularly blog about relatable topics. For instance, if you sell fashion products, you can blog about the latest summer trends, how to style up your current wardrobe and more.

Besides touching base with your customers every now and then, you also keep them engage through valuable content.

Remind customers you exist

Remind customers you exist

In place of waiting for customers to come around, it is your duty to remind them that you exist. Expecting your patrons to return to your store is almost risking them to never come back again.

As outdated as it may sound, email marketing has been there for a long time and is still working a great deal for a lot of business. The reason that email newsletters have existed for as long as we can remember, top marketers never strike them off their strategies.

Emails are a great way of promoting your sales, new collections or just the fact that your customers haven’t visited in a long time.

In addition to being a perfect personal medium of getting in touch with customers, they are work well in tapping their responses. You can easily find out when a customer chooses to opt out or reach your website through your newsletter.

As a suggestion, you can always create categories of customers who are interested in a particular collection and send them personalised notifications.

Encourage customers to share feedback

Encourage customers to share feedback

Customers in today’s world want to be heard. Allowing customers to share their feedback about your products or services gives them the feeling of being in control.

Additionally, making your customer’s feel empowered by sharing their reviews, you can make the most of their feedback to improve your offerings.

By encouraging your customer to rate and review your products, you can also analyse their opinion of a particular product. Not only do reviews power your existing customers but they also are a great license to your website genuinity.

According to planet marketing, e-commerce websites that include customer reviews have higher chances of converting visitors into customers than otherwise.

You can easily scale customer experiences by allowing them to share their feedback through your WooCommerce store. A simple setting on your website backend can be turned on to enable this feature.

The reviews by your customer is also a great practice for adding fresh content on your website regularly that can be helpful for your SEO. Unknowingly, customers tend to include keywords in their content which search engines use to find what other people are looking for.

Build a strong SEO strategy

Build a strong SEO strategy

Being recognised by popular search engines is like launching your brick and mortar retail store in a popular market. In simple words, you can sell more if you are easily discoverable.

It comes as no surprise that the competition in the digital market is hard-hitting. Having said that, you can still be found by your customers if you have a powerful SEO strategy in place.

In order to be found by your potential customers easily, you must have high ranking on your preferable search engine on certain keywords.

Start with optimizing your WooCommerce store frontend. Yoast is a very popular plugin to optimize every aspect of your front store. You can go about adding meta tags, search tags and advise the keyword ratio in your content.

Be available for your customers

Be available for your customers

Customer service should never be limited to helping them with refunds and returns. Popular businesses are going above and beyond to broaden the range of their customer services, and the result is certainly not disappointing.

By offering support to your customers, you can also smoothen their shopping journey. This can include helping them locate products, finding similar products or even help in suggesting products. This not only sends back happy customers but also leads to increase of their basket size.

If you don’t have enough resources to be offer round the clock customer support, you can always introduce “Frequently Asked Question” section on your help page. This can at least help them find answers of commonly asked questions.

Empower your customers

Empower your customers

Cultivating an environment that promotes your existing customers to become frequent buyers will help your online business sustain in the longer run.

To encourage customers to buy from your more often than they normally do, introduce features that not only makes shopping extremely easy but also motivates them to visit you time and again.

For instance, include a “favourites” feature in your e-commerce store. This will allow your customers to mark their favourite products in this list, if they don’t want to buy it right away. This way, it will be easier for them to find it again.

You can go after a WooCommerce extension to easily integrate this feature in your online store. Find the Wish List extension on the WooCommerce official website.

Complete your online presence

run promotions regularly

Yes, promotions work like a magnet to attract sales. It’s true that promotions limit your profit but they also increase the number of sales which are otherwise difficult to crack.

There is always a set of customers who patiently wait for their favourite stock to be put on sales. Most times, customers end up leaving with more than they should in the promotion period.

Alongside, allow customers to take up store credit when they come back to return or replace an item. By introducing store credit, you not only give your customers freedom to use their money they want to but also reduce your losses.

WooCommerce has an in-built feature that enables customers to apply for discount coupons at the time of checkout. You can create your offers for special events or at the times of your sales.

Monitor your website’s performance

Monitor your website's performance

The performance of a website is accounted by the time it takes to upload when a visitors fires it up. Technically speaking, the page load time of your website decides it’s performance.

Ideally, the page load time of a good website should not exceed over 2-3 seconds. However, even if you can achieve 7 seconds, you are not in a bad place.

Besides increasing the number of frustrated customers, a slow performance also affects the SEO of your website. This is mainly because impatient customers leave from your homepage without navigating to other pages, eventually increasing the bounce rate.

Google is the most popular search engine currently and prefers giving higher ranking to websites that have a good page load time and low bounce rate.

Conduct frequent backups

You don’t have to just backup your website to protect it from hackers. Backing up your website is a good practice that you can carry out every now and then.

This helps in keeping all versions of your website when you change the theme or change your hosting company or even move to a different server yourself.

In simple words, you are protecting yourself from losing any data which can happen if something goes wrong while conducting any of the activities we just discussed.

You can go with Jetpack plugin that will help backup your website at regular intervals automatically. This plugin also works wonderfully to improve your website’s performance.

However, to make the most of the resources at your disposal, you must invest it smartly and procced with the right approach and strategy.

Go through the detailed five-pointer guide below and proceed accordingly:

1. Conduct ample research

Carry out research

It is important that you know the strengths and weaknesses of your business and conduct a thorough research. Research is the most significant step for the success of any endeavour.

To invest your time, money & efforts wisely, assess and channelize the following:

  • Budget: Budget determines the framework of your campaign. It is important that you gauge the various aspects related to it and make necessary arrangements. Study the requirements and gather resources like the manpower, the technical assistance, the infrastructure, or more, that you will require.
  • USP: Determine the USP (Unique Selling Proposition) of your brand and emphasize on marketing it. This will help you in standing out from the crowd and carving a niche for yourself. You can find out what is unique about your products or your brand and build a campaign around it.
  • Audience: The huge reach of Facebook should not lead to the dissipation of your resources or your content. Identify your lookalike target audience and segregate them on the basis of their location, age, gender, community, language preferences, likes & dislikes, or more. This will help you in resizing, sampling and reaching the right people.
  • Competition: Having a first-hand knowledge of your industry competitors is a smart strategy. By doing so, you can discover what is trending in the market, what worked for them & what not, and ultimately save your efforts from going in vain. However, always focus on learning but be original with ideas and content.

2. Determine business goals

Fix business goals

To keep your marketing campaign on the right track from start to end, you must have pre-determined goals that are beneficial and reasonable. Understand the purpose of your Facebook marketing campaign and set targets accordingly.

You can take your cue from the list discussed below:

  • Monetary targets: If you have a conversion target in mind that you want to achieve, you must have a plan. Choose your plan and chalk out your monetization strategy accordingly. You can use the popular revenue models and theories to garner the desired sales number, or in your case, the number of app downloads.
  • Technical goals: It is important that you set up technical goals as well. For instance, achieving the desired number of impressions, likes, comments or more in your desired location. However, if you feel that you are not equipped enough to carry out an entire campaign, you can seek professional help from marketing agencies or Facebook.

  • Determined duration: You must have a timeline framed for your Facebook campaign to minimize wastage of hours. It can have a huge impact on your success and your marketing strategy as well. While some may charge you more for longer campaigns, others may give bulk packages. Craft your marketing strategy as per your needs, manpower and your pocket.

  • Aim of the campaign: Besides earning app downloads and popularizing it, you can aim for a variety of things. This can include active user acquisition, traffic surge & conversions, promotion of products & offers, re-engagement of lapsed users, or more. Set a definite aim and end to end execution plan for the campaign and work towards achieving it.

3. Design a robust campaign

Design attractive campaign

Facebook is probably the safest, easiest and highly productive platform that can give a huge leap to your business. After building an organized system of resources, you can proceed to ideate and execute the campaign.

Focus on the things listed here and design an unmatchable campaign:

  • Creativity: It is the key element that has the power to hook the audience and inspire desired action. Design a creative campaign with smart use of elements like images, text, videos, gifs, infographics, action buttons, or more, to convey your message. Enrich your copy with brand taglines, slogans, campaign calls, and more.
  • Execution: Ultimately, it is the vigorous execution of your campaign that will test your preparations and determine the success. Be strategic and take one step at a time for roundabout coverage. You can create page, generate content, explore adverts and ad manager, partner with influencers and even go for paid or unpaid promotions.

  • Interaction: People take special interest in marketing campaigns that triggers their mind and interacts with them directly. Create an engaging campaign and encourage user participation by designing contests, challenges, quizzes, and more. Urge your audience to be a part of it by using the hashtags to promote your campaign trail, try your app or generate content themselves.
  • Call to action: The netizens have a tendency of not committing any useful action unless asked to. You will certainly not want to lose such consumers. So, it is important that you include a strong and compelling CTA (Call to Action) prompt or button. Choose from the pre-designed menu by Facebook or go for Open, Install, Buy Now, etc.

4. Create an unending buzz

Create marketing buzz

The marketing industry is turning more fascinating with the passing time. Advertisements are turning into campaigns and campaigns are turning into stories. It means that people are also marketing their campaigns to drive higher engagements.

You can populate your campaign by practising the list discussed below:

  • Creating hype: You can create a hype around your marketing campaign days before the launch of it. This will help in driving your existing list of audience towards the campaign and also engage new users. You can also send push notifications, send SMS or Email alerts and ask people to join your Facebook community. Build immense curiosity and then cash it.
  • Building social proof: Trust and validation play a big role in earning long term and loyal users. Garner enough social proof by asking people to drop ratings & reviews and responding to their feedback. You can also share actual or tweaked data of already earned downloads & installations, testimonials from existing users, and more, to earn their trust and attention.
  • Promoting cross-platform: Yes, you heard it right! Don’t just limit your Facebook ad campaign to the channel itself. Invite the audience on other platforms to engage with your Facebook campaign by cross promoting it on those platforms. Share customized copies on other Social Media channels like Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and more.
  • Making additional efforts: Besides using social media and conventional marketing tools, you can promote your campaign in a variety of other ways. Engage in Celebrity or Influencer Marketing, Content Marketing, and more. You can also promote word of mouth by using the referral & rewards technique. Ask users to share your campaign and incentivize them.

5. Analyze results & reignite

Analyze the results

The best marketers and business owners do not get affected by the result of their campaign but focus on learning from it. Your campaign too, might get its own share of taste of success and somethings might also end up failing.

Many things, seemingly understated, might turn out to be viable. Hence, it will be smart of you to deeply analyze the results and reinvent the strategies for future.

You can have own parameters or consider the ones discussed below:

  • Impressions: It is the most quantifiable way of measuring data driven results. Note the total number of responses, impressions or installations, transactions, purchases, and more that you earned, to calculate the empirical success of the campaign.
  • Traffic Surge: Calculate the sum total of the traffic surge or fluctuation that took place. It denotes the number of people who noticed your campaign and interacted with it. This determines how noticeable and eye-catching your campaign was.
  • Conversions: Monetary gains determine the ultimate impact of the marketing endeavour. See if your sales are at par with your targets or not. Analyze the data for income or revenue and see how many conversions you achieved for every fixed amount that you spent.
  • Impact: Rely on your own marketing senses and measure the overall impact of the campaign. Use the insights to aid the process of designing new business & marketing ideas. Reinvent your approach accordingly and set new goals for further success.
