The push notification feature is live: Now connect with your app users effortlessly

Mar 17, 2021

AppMySite has released push notification feature for all apps with code version 1.7.0 and above. You can now send unlimited push notifications to your app users from your AppMySite account.

The push notification feature will be available for both Android and iOS app users. To start sending push notifications, login to your AppMySite account and go to Download app.

For Android

Follow the steps below to start sending push notifications to your Android app users:

  • Select Build app under Android (select Rebuild app in case you already have a live app on Google Play).
  • You will see a window pop-up. Copy the bundle ID mentioned here and enable the push notifications toggle.
  • Enter the Google Firebase Server Key and upload the Configuration file. The steps below briefly explain how you can avail the server key and configuration file for your app:
    • Create a Firebase account and make a project for your mobile app.
    • Once your project is created, you will be redirected to your Firebase dashboard.
    • Go to Project Settings.
    • Select Add app in the Your Apps section and choose Android. You will then be prompted to enter your Android package name (bundle ID) and app name. You can leave the last field blank and click on the Register app button.
    • You can then download the google-services.json file. This is the configuration file that you have to upload in the Google Firebase Configuration field.
    • Go back to Project Settings and select the Cloud messaging tab. You will find the server key listed here in the Project Credentials section. Enter this key in the Google Firebase Server Key field while building your Android app.

For iOS

Follow the steps below to start sending notifications to your iOS users:

  • Select Build app under iOS (select Rebuild app in case you already have a live app on iOS).
  • You will see a window pop-up. Copy the bundle ID mentioned here and enable the push notifications toggle.
  • Enter the server key and configuration file again to enable push notifications. You can enter the same server key you entered for Android in the Firebase Server key field. Follow the steps below to get the configuration file:
    • Go to Project Settings, select Add app, and choose iOS.
    • You will be redirected to a new page where you can enter your iOS bundle ID and app name. Click on the Register app button when you are done.
    • The option to download the googleservice-info.plist file will be available on the screen. Download the file and upload it in the Firebase Configuration field.
    • Go back to Cloud Messaging in your Firebase account. Upload the Production APNs certificate for your iOS app. This will enable you to send push notifications to your iOS app users.
    • Once your new builds are generated and your apps go live on Google Play and App Store, you can start sending push notifications.
    • Go to Push Notifications on your AppMySite account. Click on Create New and enter the title and content of your notification.
    • You can schedule the notification and choose between sending it to your Android users, iOS users, or both.
