In-App Chat

Add chat inside your app so users can contact you, ask questions, and get help without leaving the mobile experience.

Quick summary

In-app chat helps you bring your existing support or messaging setup into your mobile app. If you already use a chat platform on your website, AppMySite gives you ways to connect it to your app so users can start conversations from inside the app.

You can use built-in chat integrations, add a chat URL, or use a custom script depending on how your chat provider works. Once chat is enabled, you can decide how users should access it, whether through a floating chat icon, profile link, settings link, or app menu.

How it works

Inside AppMySite, chat can be configured from the chat settings of your app. For direct integrations, you add the required account key, app ID, API key, license ID, or provider-specific detail needed to connect that chat service.

If your chat provider gives you a hosted chat link, you can use the custom URL option. If your provider gives you an embed script, you can use the custom script option. This gives you flexibility when your preferred chat tool is not available as a direct integration.

Once chat is configured, the app can show chat access inside the mobile experience. You can show a floating chat icon if you want chat to be available from app screens, or hide the floating icon and make chat available through profile, settings, or navigation links instead.

Supported chat options

AppMySite includes direct options for popular chat and messaging tools. These include Zendesk Chat, Intercom, LiveChat, Tawk.to, HubSpot Chat, and ChatGPT where applicable.

The exact setup depends on the provider. Some tools need a simple account key or URL, while others may need separate Android and iOS details or API keys. AppMySite provides the relevant fields inside the chat settings, so you only add the details required for the option you choose.

Display options

You can choose how visible chat should be inside your app. A floating chat widget is useful when you want users to start a conversation quickly from the app experience.

If you prefer a cleaner interface, you can turn off the floating widget and make chat available only through selected access points. For example, you can show chat from the user profile, app settings, or a menu item, depending on how you want users to reach support.
